1. In the drawing you sent for Autodesk, there appears no location dimensions for the truss rod hole. Previous queries tell me this is a soundhole adjusted model. 2. Second, do I need to route a groove in the neckblock extension for the truss rod? There isn't much thickness now that it has been sanded flat to the sides. It's close to 5/16 without measuring. |

John and Paul, Evidently there is a slight departure from the OLF SJ plans as to the neckblock addition of the extension. I like to never got that thing sanded level to the sides but finally did. I took off at least 1/16th on the inner side. Also, after deducing the location of the transverse brace (only one), The fb extension had to be trimmed back to allow for installation of the top. I cut at least 3/8" maybe 1/2" off the extension to allow for the transverse brace. The Transverse brace has no radii, is totally flat, where all other bracing is 25'. I'm wondering about the truss rod slot for the tool? This is new to me since I adjust mine at the peghead. Thanks for any encouragement/ enlightment you may be able to give me.... I might need to add thickness to the underside of this extension, otherwise it may get cut in two lengthwise. |

You need to check with John on this. If you had read the notes on the plans you would notice I leave all neck and neck block contruction up to the luthier. I did this to not cause any luthier to change the way he does his neck. Mine is a throught peghead adjusting bolt on, but the next guy's may be a soundhole adjusting dovetail. I know John's is a bolt on out side of that I have no specs. |
